If your gums and remaining teeth are weak, the dentures might cause you pain and related health conditions.

  • Schedule a visit to the dentist occasionally

It is recommended that you should visit your dentist once every six months for a routine check-up. They would also clean the teeth and remove plaque and hardened tartar. The dentist would look for visual signs of gum disease, cavities, mouth cancer or any other oral health issues. Dental X-rays would be used to check in the roots for cavities.

Common culprits would be desserts and candy but many processed foods also contain added sugar. Consuming starchy foods like bread, crackers, chips etc. might cause tooth decay. The food particles remain in the mouth and break down into simple sugars which would then be fed by acid-producing bacteria. This asset would cause tooth decay. Rather than starchy foods, you should consume fibre-rich fruits and vegetables and dairy products without added sugar. 

  • Drink water rather than sugary drinks

Sugar and sweetened beverages are the primary sources of added sugar. Sipping on juice or other sugary drinks may lead to a higher risk for cavities. It is recommended to drink water or unsweetened tea throughout the day and consume sweetened drinks at mealtimes and in small volumes.
