There are many things you can do to keep yourself motivated to continue with your fitness workouts. It’s not always easy staying consistent with an exercise routine but below I’m going to share some things that have kept me going throughout the years.
- Finding a fitness workout that you like.
It makes it easier to want to exercise if you like what you are doing. This could mean having more than one form of exercise that you do. Whether it is walking, running, hiking, biking, joining a gym or other exercise class, purchasing a treadmill or buying DVD’s. There are a many combinations that you can do to help keep you going. Over the years yes I have at one time or another tried all the above but I have never quit exercising all together. I have always found what works for me at different points in my life.
- How do you feel after completing your fitness routine?
I love the way I feel after I have done some form of exercise for the day both mentally and physically. Mentally I find that it clears my head and I know that I have just done something good for myself and this makes me want to continue with it. I have taken the time to take care of me and no one else. I call this my me time. Physically I love the way my muscles and body feel after completing a fitness workout. After a while I think that your body craves the activity and the movement that you get from a regular exercise routine.
- Are you seeing the results from your exercise routine?
It may take some time but after being consistent with any physical activity you are going to start seeing results. If you like what you are seeing when you look in the mirror (toned legs, arms, definition in your abs) than this alone is a huge motivator to continue with whatever fitness workout you are doing. Maybe you start to lose a little weight and your goal isn’t so far away. Or you can now walk farther for longer periods of time. Your endurance is improving so you can challenge yourself and push yourself to set new goals.
- Find yourself an exercise partner.
It makes it hard to say that you don’t feel like working out when someone else is depending on you. If you walk regularly, belong to a gym or other exercise class it always makes it more fun when you’ve got a buddy. You end up motivating each other.
- Keep a fitness journal or log.
I have done this for years writing down what activity I have done, how long my workout was and how frequent I exercise. This has been helpful for me when I think that it really hasn’t been that long in between a workout. Sometimes seeing that you have been inactive makes you get motivated to start doing something again.Again these are just some of the many tips that you can use in helping to keep yourself motivated to continue with your fitness workouts:
- Find something you enjoy or like doing.
- If your exercise routine makes you feel good do more of it.
- If you are happy with the results you see keep going.
- Find an exercise partner that you count on.
- Keep track of your progress.
